The open enrollment period for Marketplace (Obama care) health insurance in 2025 is November 1, 2024 through January 15, 2025. However, open enrollment dates can vary by state.
During open enrollment, you can: Enroll in a health insurance plan, renew your health insurance plan, and make changes to your health insurance plan.
If you miss the open enrollment period, you may still be able to enroll if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP). You may qualify for a SEP if you experience a qualifying event, such as losing your coverage.
When choosing a health insurance plan, you can consider things like:
- If any of your doctors or medical facilities are in-network.
- If any of your medications are in the plan’s formulary.
- What the out-of-pocket costs will be.
